Shape and thermal stability, low thermal and electrical conductivity, excellent wear and bearing properties, as well as resistance to chemicals and radiation, are some of its remarkable characteristics.

Another advantage is that many components can be made lighter and more durable using Vespel than with conventional metals, ceramics, and polymers.

The graph shows a measurement of the thermal impedance (thermal conductivity) of a 25 mm × 25 mm Vespelsample at 50 °C (TH = 70 °C, TC = 30 °C) and a contact pressure of 1 MPa.

Three different samples with thicknesses ranging from 1.1 mm to 3.08 mm were measured to determine the apparent thermal conductivity and the heat transfer resistance (using linear regression). The measured thermal conductivity is 0.35 W/m·K.

Appropriate measuring device
