Fiber-reinforced polymers are composite materials consisting of a polymer matrix reinforced with fibers. Their useful properties (low specific gravity, high modulus of elasticity) are increasingly being utilized in industry. The reinforcing fibers make it possible to specifically tailor these properties. Therefore, it is important to understand these properties, particularly for high-end applications.

The figure shows that the thermal conductivity and temperature conductivity in the plane are higher than the results measured perpendicular to the fiber orientation.

Consequently, this measurement method is a useful tool for analyzing material properties and verifying their suitability for the intended application.
