The DIL L78 is the ideal device for optimizing the quenching rate following multi-stage forming. These measurements allow for the simulation of steel processing in order to control the crystalline structure and physical properties.

Quenching and forming speed are very important for the properties of the final product and for optimizing forging processes.

In this example, after the initial heating and the resulting thermal expansion, the steel package is held at a constant temperature and undergoes a series of two deformation steps: a first deformation of 1 mm over a period of 10 s, followed by a second deformation of 1 mm over another period of 10 s.

After the deformation steps, the material is quenched, and the contraction and phase transformation are measured.

With this data, manufacturers can optimize their production processes for steels with the desired physical properties.
