The coefficients of thermal expansion (TEC) of Ba 2 NiMoO 6 (BNMO) and BaCe0.7Zr0.1Y0.2O3-d (BCZY 712 ) were compared using a Linseis dilatometer DIL L75 HS 1600 .

BNMO exhibited a constant TEC value of 14.6 × 10⁻⁶ °C⁻¹, whileBCZY712 showed a nonlinear TEC curve around 600 °C due to the dehydration of the perovskite.

Nevertheless, at lower temperatures, the TEC value ofBCZY712 —12.10 × 10⁻⁶ °C⁻¹—was nearly identical to that of BNMO, indicating good thermal compatibility between the two materials within the specified temperature range.

The BNMO composite, when combined withBCZY712, shows great promise for improving the performance of proton-conducting ceramic electrochemical cells (PCECs).
