Fiber-reinforced polymers are frequently used in construction and thermal insulation. The advantage of such materials is their high capacity to absorb elastic energy despite a remarkably low modulus of elasticity.
It is characterized by high chemical resistance, which allows it to be used in corrosive environments. Its low thermal conductivity also allows it to be used as chemical-resistant insulation. For this reason, its thermal conductivity is of particular interest.
The graph shows 15 measurements of the certified reference material Fiberglass IRMM-440 (resin-bonded glass fiber board) with a thermal conductivity of 0.0.03274 ± 0.00015 at 30 °C and 0.03102 ± 0.00012 W/mK at 15 °C.
All 15 individual measurements showed a very narrow range, which demonstrates the excellent reproducibility of the Linseis HFM.
