STA PT 1000

STA (TG-DSC/DTA) Thermogravimetric Analyzer

On point

The STA PT 1000 is dedicated to analysis of organic materials in a relatively low temperature range up to 1000°C. The TG-DSC is a top loading Thermobalance, which offers a highly user-friendly design. Even at a sample weight of up to 10g the Tara is done electronically. The specially designed furnaces allow fast heating and cooling rates as well as a highly precise temperature control.

The system can be optionally equipped with a coupling device for EGA (Evolved Gas Analysis). The instrument is highly suitable for thermal composition, thermal stability and oxidation studies.

  • Top Loading sub microgram balance
  • Temperature range RT up to 1000°C (Sample Temp.)
  • Exchangeable measuring systems TG – DTA/DSC

An optional 42/84 position sample robot in combination with the optional automatic gas control and automatic evacuating system enables long term unattended operation.

Accessories for TG-DSC instruments

Linseis Measuring system of TGA

Our STA can be equipped with an unmatched amount of different user exchangeable TG-DSC, TG-DTA or TG sensors.

  • Software for determination of calculated DTA signal
  • Different types of vacuum and turbo molecular pumps
  • Selection of manual, semi-automatic and automatic (MFC) Gas control boxes
  • Broad range of crucibles (gold, silver, platinum, quartz glass, alumina oxide, aluminum, high pressure stainless steel, etc.)
  • Sample robot for up to 84 positions

All LINSEIS thermo analytical instruments are PC controlled. The individual software modules exclusively run under Microsoft® Windows® operating systems. The complete software consists of 3 modules: temperature control, data acquisition and data evaluation. The 32 bit software incorporates all essential features for measurement preparation, execution, and evaluation of a STA measurement. Thanks to our specialists and application experts, LINSEIS was able to develop comprehensive easy to understand user friendly application software.

TG – Features

HT-DSC – Features

  • Glass transition temperature
  • Curve subtraction
  • Complex peak evaluation
  • Multipoint calibration for sample temperature
  • Multipoint calibration for change of enthalpy
  • Cp calibration for heat flow

Application example: Vitriol of Copper

Inorganic salts first set their crystal water free. Vitriol of Copper heated with 10°C/min. results in a first TG stage, which corresponds to 4H2O. TG and DTA show that the curve is made up of two separate steps, one closely behind the other. At around 250°C the most strongly bound water evaporates.

STA Applikation Kupfervitriol

Application example: Decomposition of Rubber

In the first step of weight loss, the dehydration of the sample takes place. The amount of water was 9.27%. In the second reaction step, the volatile components are released by pyrolysis under N2 atmosphere. The amount of these components is 35.99%. For the third reaction step, the atmosphere is changed to O2 – all organic components are burned out. The loss in weight is 14.33%. The remaining rest of 40.41% are inorganic components like ashes, slake or fillers.
