Introduction and application

Fibre-reinforced polymers are composite materials made from a polymer matrix reinforced with fibres. The useful properties (low specific weight, high modulus of elasticity) are increasingly being used in industry. The reinforced fibres make it possible to specifically influence the properties. It is therefore important to know the properties especially for high-end applications.

Analysis with LFA

The image shows that the thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity in the plane are higher than the results normal to the fibre orientation. Consequently, this measurement method is a good tool for analysing material properties and verifying compliance with the desired application.
