O objetivo \u00e9 sempre minimizar a condu\u00e7\u00e3o de calor, em particular, mas tamb\u00e9m a convec\u00e7\u00e3o e a radia\u00e7\u00e3o.   <\/p><p>O par\u00e2metro mais importante \u00e9 a condutividade t\u00e9rmica (\u03bb, lambda) de um material. Indica a facilidade com que o calor \u00e9 transportado atrav\u00e9s de um material. A espuma de poliuretano domina o isolamento de tubagens e tanques de \u00e1gua quente.  <\/p><p><strong>Embalagem:<\/strong> Para as cadeias de frio (alimentos, vacinas, etc.), s\u00e3o utilizados materiais de isolamento multicamadas, termof\u00f3lios e tecnologia de v\u00e1cuo.<\/p><p><strong>Vestu\u00e1rio e vida quotidiana:<\/strong> O vestu\u00e1rio de inverno de alta qualidade utiliza o efeito isolante do ar retido nos enchimentos de fibras ou penugem.
