Esta quantidade material corresponde \u00e0 quantidade de calor necess\u00e1ria para aquecer uma certa quantidade de uma subst\u00e2ncia em um Kelvin.&#8221;<\/p><p>Os DSC podem ser utilizados para determinar a capacidade t\u00e9rmica espec\u00edfica (a seguir designada por Cp) [3, Cap. 6.2]. A capacidade t\u00e9rmica espec\u00edfica \u00e9 uma quantidade intensiva adicionando a massa. Indica a quantidade de calor que uma subst\u00e2ncia deve absorver para aumentar a massa de uma subst\u00e2ncia por uma diferen\u00e7a de temperatura definida. O cristal constitu\u00eddo por \u00f3xido de alum\u00ednio (a seguir designado por <sub>Al2O3<\/sub> ) ocorre na forma natural. No entanto, a safira tamb\u00e9m pode ser produzida sinteticamente e com uma qualidade perfeita. Os vidros de safira produzidos sinteticamente s\u00e3o geralmente incolores e inertes devido \u00e0 sua elevada temperatura de fus\u00e3o de 2050 \u00b0C, na gama de temperaturas habitual dos DSC. A produ\u00e7\u00e3o artificial permite que a safira seja fabricada com elevada precis\u00e3o e representa um padr\u00e3o muito exato. No entanto, as amostras com capacidades calor\u00edficas espec\u00edficas fortemente divergentes podem apresentar desvios de medi\u00e7\u00e3o. Na primeira etapa, apenas o cadinho da amostra correspondente \u00e9 aquecido e a curva zero correspondente ao ensaio \u00e9 registada de modo a compensar a in\u00e9rcia do sistema de medi\u00e7\u00e3o. Numa segunda fase, mede-se um material de refer\u00eancia conhecido nas mesmas condi\u00e7\u00f5es de ensaio. O pr\u00e9-requisito \u00e9 que o material seja muito puro, bem definido e inerte na gama de temperaturas pretendida. Os valores da literatura para a capacidade t\u00e9rmica do material de refer\u00eancia em fun\u00e7\u00e3o da temperatura tamb\u00e9m devem estar dispon\u00edveis. Num terceiro passo, a amostra a ser analisada \u00e9 medida sob as mesmas condi\u00e7\u00f5es de ensaio. A curva zero \u00e9 subtra\u00edda das medi\u00e7\u00f5es da refer\u00eancia e da amostra. O cadinho e todas as outras condi\u00e7\u00f5es ambientais devem ser mantidos t\u00e3o id\u00eanticos quanto poss\u00edvel. Caso contr\u00e1rio, ocorrer\u00e3o desvios de medi\u00e7\u00e3o, devendo ser observado o posicionamento exato do cadinho e da amostra.
