L&#8217;elevata ramificazione gli conferisce una bassa densit\u00e0 e una minore durezza, rigidit\u00e0 e temperatura di fusione rispetto ad altri tipi di polietilene. <\/p><p>A causa della sua bassa <strong>cristallinit\u00e0<\/strong>, l&#8217;<strong>LDPE<\/strong> \u00e8 un polimero amorfo, il che significa che non ha una struttura cristallina regolare. Al contrario, \u00e8 costituito da una disposizione irregolare delle catene polimeriche, con il risultato di una struttura amorfa e non cristallina. <\/p><p>Questa bassa <strong>cristallinit\u00e0<\/strong> conferisce all&#8217;<strong>LDPE<\/strong> le sue caratteristiche di flessibilit\u00e0 e tenacit\u00e0, che lo rendono adatto ad applicazioni come film, imballaggi e contenitori. Un esempio significativo \u00e8 la produzione di pellicole termoretraibili. <\/p><p>Nella produzione di queste pellicole, l&#8217;<strong>LDPE<\/strong> viene solitamente riscaldato a temperature vicine al suo punto di fusione, spesso a circa 110\u00b0C. In questo stato, il materiale diventa elastico e facile da modellare. Una volta modellato il film come desiderato, viene rapidamente raffreddato per fissarne la struttura.  <\/p><p>Se il film termoretraibile LDPE viene esposto a una fonte di calore, ad esempio una pistola termica, inizia a restringersi a temperature comprese tra i 90 \u00b0C e i 110 \u00b0C.
