gasificaci\u00f3n del carb\u00f3n o hidrogasificaci\u00f3n.<br \/>Este proceso, en el que el carb\u00f3n se calienta en una atm\u00f3sfera de vapor de agua, se utiliza en procesos catal\u00edticos, por ejemplo para eliminar el mon\u00f3xido de carbono de los gases de escape y, sobre todo, para extraer compuestos org\u00e1nicos valiosos de recursos como el carb\u00f3n vegetal o la biomasa. <a vegetal.\nLa muestra de carb\u00f3n vegetal se calent\u00f3 hasta una meseta isot\u00e9rmica bajo una atm\u00f3sfera de nitr\u00f3geno a 50 bares de presi\u00f3n (TGA de alta presi\u00f3n &#8211; termobalanza).\nLa se\u00f1al de masa muestra la p\u00e9rdida de componentes vol\u00e1tiles entre 20 y 40 min.\nTras la adici\u00f3n de vapor de agua, el carb\u00f3n se gasific\u00f3 y se consumi\u00f3 casi por completo al cabo de 150 min, dando lugar a H<sub>2<\/sub>, CO, CH<sub>3<\/sub>OH y otros gases reactivos \u00fatiles, como muestra la curva roja de p\u00e9rdida de masa.\nTodo el proceso puede describirse como sigue: El carbono reacciona con el vapor de agua para formar una mezcla de mon\u00f3xido de carbono e hidr\u00f3geno.\nEl mon\u00f3xido de carbono resultante puede reaccionar con una segunda mol\u00e9cula de agua para formar di\u00f3xido de carbono e hidr\u00f3geno adicional, y finalmente el hidr\u00f3geno resultante puede formar metano y otros hidrocarburos a
