including textiles, packaging, automotive components and electrical appliances, thanks to their robustness, heat resistance and versatility.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div It is precisely this combination of properties that is valued, for example, in the textile industry, leading to the creation of durable and comfortable materials for applications such as outdoor clothing.<\/p><p><strong>Polyamides<\/strong> impress with their flexibility and heat resistance. Depending on the specific type, their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linseis.com\/en\/wiki\/melting-point-crystallization-and-glass-transition-in-polymers\/\"><strong>melting<\/strong> <strong>points<\/strong><\/a> can range between 180\u00b0C and an impressive 300\u00b0C. Various instruments are available for characterizing these properties: The determination of the <strong>melting<\/strong> <strong>point<\/strong> is often performed using a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linseis.com\/en\/instruments\/differential-scanning-calorimeter-dsc\/\"><strong>Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC)<\/strong><\/a>, while the degree of crystallinity and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linseis.com\/en\/properties\/enthalpy\/\"><strong>heat<\/strong> <strong>of<\/strong> <strong>fusion<\/strong><\/a> can be precisely captured with the patented <strong>Chip-DSC<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Already at 180\u00b0C, a considerable temperature resistance is evident, but true heat resistance is spoken of only near 300\u00b0C. This thermal robustness opens up a wide range of application possibilities for <strong>polyamides<\/strong>, especially in demanding environments. An outstanding example of this is plastic components in vehicle engines.<\/p><p>These parts must withstand both extreme operating temperatures and mechanical stresses, where the intensity and deformation of these stresses can be determined by instruments such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linseis.com\/en\/service-support\/methods-of-thermal-analysis\/thermomechanical-analysis\/\"><strong>Thermomechanical Analyzer (TMA)<\/strong><\/a> or a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linseis.com\/en\/instruments\/dilatometer\/\">Dilatometer<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p><p>A favored <strong>polyamide<\/strong> for such demanding applications is PA66. Particularly, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linseis.com\/en\/wiki\/glass-transition-temperature\/\"><strong>glass<\/strong> <strong>transition<\/strong> <strong>temperature<\/strong> <strong>(Tg)<\/strong><\/a>, which for <strong>polyamides<\/strong> typically falls between 40\u00b0C and 90\u00b0C, plays a central role.<\/p><p>At this temperature, the material undergoes a significant change in its mechanical properties: it becomes softer and more flexible. The <strong>glass<\/strong> <strong>transition<\/strong> <strong>temperature<\/strong> can also be determined using a <strong>Chip-DSC<\/strong>. A striking example that utilizes this transition is cable ties.<\/p><p>They not only retain their shape at various temperatures but also maintain a certain degree of elasticity.
