L75 PT Vertical Dilatometer (DIL Dilatometer)

Research Dilatometer - Vertical series

The vertical research Dilatometer series L75V was developed to meet the demands of the academic community and research laboratories worldwide. With this system thermal expansion behavior of solids, liquids, powders and pastes for a variety of applications can be precisely determined. The unique vertical design of this system is perfect for low or ultra low expansion materials, since the vertical “Zero-Friction” design guarantees superior measuring results. This line of Dilatometers is capable of performing measurements under vacuum, oxidizing and reducing atmospheres.

This system can be ordered in a single or differential version for even higher precision or sample throughput. Optionally the mechanical and electronic components of the dilatometer can be separated to allow measurements in a glove box.

The following physical properties can be measured:

CTE, Linear Thermal Expansion, Alpha Physical, Sintering Temperature, Phase Transformations, Softening Points, Decomposition Temperatures, Glass Transition Temperatures.

NEW Cryo Option for Temperatures down to 10 K:

LINSEIS L75 Cryo „Ultra Low Temperature“ series is available in vertical (Zero – Friction) mode of operation. It offers a broad temperature range (-260°C up to +220°C), many different sample holders, operation in vacuum or a controlled oxidizing or reducing atmosphere, while maintaining the highest accuracy and ease of use.

        Glass Ceramic

The dilatometric method is an excellent method to determine the thermal expansion (CTE) and the softening point of glass ceramic materials. Besides the absolute expansion and the expansion coefficient (CTE) you can find the first derivative of the absolute expansion. Where the first derivative goes through zero you can determine the max. of the thermal expansion and thus the softening point of the material.

        Ceramics / Powder metallurgy

In production processes of high-tech ceramics a simulation of sinter processes is of high interest. When using the optional software package RCS (rate controlled sintering) it is possible to program controlled sintering with a dilatometer as per PALMOUR III theory. The following application is a sintering process of ZrO2. Here the final density of 100% is achieved. The initial heating rate decreases as the final density is reached.
